About the Art

Austin was always a small town. The service industry was our largest player in the business world. Good hearted but strong, edgy but kind, laid back but creative. People were the pillars of our community, and art and music were two of our most revered commodities.

The Fighting Leslies have always wanted to make sure the voice of that Austin had a seat at this table. That the heart and soul of that town survived, and that folks could still see and feel what made it special as we evolve into a modern metropolis.

FLDC knew that Addison "Fozzy" Mayfield was the person we needed to cultivate our vision and help amplify that voice. As an Austin native, Fozzy sang in bands while we all danced, hollered and drank along. He not only drew all of his own posters and album covers, he created art for a whole slew of other businesses and bands along the way, and he did it in a style of his own as well as a throwback and nod to the great poster art community that came before him. Paying homage to a great scene of poster artists, like his uncle Guy Juke, who defined Austin from the late 60s all the way into the 80s. Fozzy helped us tie a thread through it all and kept that flame burning.

Fozzy has drawn all the original imagery and lettering we use, by hand, in pencil and ink. Our quality control expert and native Austinite Egan Jones digitized them and evolved the art, bringing it into full techno color.

Addison "Grey" Gardner helped design and create the original website, and helped shape our FLDC and High Heeled Shoes branding. She also has a hand in much of the creative video editing, and is responsible for hand painting Big Leslie and all of the Little Leslies.
