Keep Austin Weird

Why Leslie You Ask?
Or maybe the better question is… who was Leslie?
Well... we're not entirely sure you've come to the right page for a definitive answer. There are books, documentaries, newspaper articles, and about 49,000 Austinites who all have their own version of Leslie Cochran.
And honestly? They're probably all right.
To some, Leslie was just a Man. To outsiders he was a Myth. There are folks that consider him a Legend. To most of us, Leslie was simply the person they'd wave to on South Congress, bump into at Eeyore's Birthday Party, or strike up a conversation while waiting for the light to change or when hopping to another bar at night on 6th street.
Our goal isn't to tell you who Leslie was. Our goal is to introduce you to the Leslie that Austin remembers.
This page isn't meant to be a history lesson. It's meant to be a living scrapbook, a place where the stories, photographs, laughs, chance encounters, and "you'll never believe what Leslie did..." moments can live on long after the conversations have ended.
Because if there was ever a person who couldn't be summed up in a few paragraphs, it was Leslie Cochran.
This is where y'all come in.
We're inviting everyone to help us tell the story: lifelong Austinites, former Austinites, visitors, curious onlookers, old friends, and people who met Leslie exactly once but have never forgotten it.
Send us your photos. Send us your stories. Send us your legends, tall tales, newspaper clippings, videos, random encounters, and those "I'm not making this up..." moments that only seem to happen in Austin.
Email everything to fightinglesliesdc@gmail.com, and with your permission, we'll share many of them right here for the world to enjoy.
Our hope is that this page becomes a never-ending merry-go-round of memories, a place where people can laugh, reminisce, discover who Leslie was through the eyes of others, and maybe learn a little something about the wonderfully weird Austin that Leslie called home.
So have a look around. Read a few stories. Share one of your own.
Or don't.
We have a feeling that's exactly how Leslie would have wanted it.
Because at the end of the day, being yourself, out loud, is about the most Austin thing there is.
And nobody reminded us of that more than Leslie.
